Are we really this old?

img_09111.JPGHi, everyone. I am looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend and thought I would give you a quick update. Greg and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary last month. I cannot believe how time has flown by. We moved to Seattle nearly 3 years ago. I am Senior Corporate Counsel for Amazon.com, and Greg is in finance for a ocean transportation company with offices globally. We live in the Magnolia district of Seattle, with absolutely stunning views of downtown and Elliott Bay from our backyard. I never envisioned myself living in Seattle. After all, isn’t there some sort of unspoken rivalry between Portland and Seattle? We love it here. It suits our lifestyle very well.

Last year I traveled to China for business and visited the Great Wall and Tiananman Square. I also hung out with colleagues along the harbor in Shanghai over dinner and drinks. What an amazing experience to witness a Communist nation undergoing such enormous change. Greg and I have also enjoyed some great traveling together, including a trip to France in 2004 to witness Lance Armstrong win what was then his 6th record Tour victory. We rode our bikes over some epic climbs through the Alps, around the Arc de Triomphe (and amazingly enough, avoided becoming road kill) and down the Champs d’Elysee. Madame Bray would have been proud even though my French was horrificly awful.

No kids, but we have two Miniature Schnauzers named Sophie and Otto. With our lifestyle, we really don’t have much time to raise a family. Fortunately our siblings made up for us in that category. Outside of work, my time has been consumed by running a handful of marathons, including Boston, and racing my bike along with Greg for a local cycling team.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone although I must say that I’m a bit disappointed to notice a few names missing from the “confirmed attending” list (you know who you are). If you’re on the fence about attending, please reconsider. It would be great to see you and hear what kind of trouble you’ve been up to. :-)

Phil and IHi, Fellow Classmates!
I am sorry that I won’t be able to make it to this year’s reunion. I have a family reunion the same weekend. So even though I live in town, I’ll be out of town!
My biggest news is that last year, on March 25th, 2006, I got married to a wonderful man. We are expecting our first child (a boy!) in early December. We are very excited about becoming a mommy and daddy.
After graduating, I went to George Fox University and got my elementary teacher’s license. Then went on to get my masters in Deaf Education from Lewis and Clark College. I have substitute taught in grades K-12, mostly elementary, and then once they learned I knew ASL (American Sign Language), I taught at…Sunset! I have taught part time and subbed there the last four years. It’s fun to be able to walk the halls without a pass, to be on a first name basis with old teachers, and even have some old teachers sub for me! The school is doing very well; the main problem with the kids in class is talking on their cell phones as they drink their morning coffee!
My hobbies include writing and reading Christian fiction. I would love to have my books published, and hopefully they are in process to be so.
My husband, Phil, and I attend City Bible Church in Portland. We love it there!
I’d love to hear from any of you that remember me! (McMillin325@aol.com)
Many names are familiar to me, as I went to West TV, had many years in Camp Fire Girls, then on to Cedar Park, and then to Sunset.
Love,
Debbie (Luther) McMillin

Has it been 20 already??

Â

I’m taking a chance at posting my life story for the past 20 years because I’m thinking, many (if not most), of you won’t recall who I am. I posted my pictures to help jog your memory, but I don’t look anything like I did in 1987. High school life was a quiet one for me because I was extremely shy, but I hold very special memories of those of you that touched my life from Meadow Park to Sunset High and I believe you know who you are. I think of you all often and hope that life has blessed you with love and happiness as it has for me.

After high school I joined the Air Force and became a nurse, traveling the world serving our country for 10 years then went back to school to receive a Masters in Business from the University of Maryland. I have two handsome sons (Antonio – 16, Tyler – 13) who continue to bring joy into my life everyday. It’s funny how I look at them now, as young men in high school, and can still recall my own high school life through their experiences.  I was married for 15 years and now happily divorced for 3. I currently reside in Sacramento, California and own a business development consulting firm with Michael, who has become one of the greatest blessings in my life.Â

Next year, if any of you happen to vacation in Lake Tahoe, my son (Antonio) and I will be participating in the Century Ride for Cancer event which will be held in June 2008. We will bike ride 100 miles around the Lake to raise money for cancer. Tell me if this isn’t a test of will and endurance for a 38 year old but all for a great cause!!

I hope this posting will reconnect me with all of you who remember me. It’s been 20 years but there’s another 30 or 40 more to go! Life is definitely different now and I would love to be in touch with you to share the memories and to possibly create new ones with our families! I haven’t decided if I will be attending the reunion in August. My work schedule is so hectic these days – I will try my best to be there! In the meantime, email me and let me know how you are! My email is luicitamoran@yahoo.com

Jennifer Brill-LaFavor – has it really been 20 years??

jen-and-brian.jpgberg-wedding-2006.jpgAfter 20 years and not that much has changed. Graduated from UofO way back when and then did the celebratory month long back pack trip through Eupope, which was amazing. Met my husband, Brian almost 13 years ago and have been married for almost 7 years. No children but have a very energetic Pomeranian who thinks it is all about her. For fun we do a lot of camping, boating, playing with quads in the sand – pretty much big toys for big kids which keeps us young:)  Have stayed in touch with a few friends from way back, mostly Lynne Haney-DeLaCruz and Michelle Hurt-Jacabauskas. I would love to say I will be making it to the reunion, expecially after seeing all that are going but I am in a current battle with stomach cancer and between currently being bald from chemo and not always feeling all that well, we just didn’t think I’d be able to handle all the excitement. I’d like to also take this chance to say “thank you” to all those other long time friends who have been there to offer me support, you know who you are (I love the pink pig!) So have a dance, a drink and a conversation for me and I’ll be thinking about all of you.
