“Decisions, Decisions

In life you have choices. Some are easy, no-brainers, like choosing between skim and whole milk in your latte (WHOLE – cut the fat elsewhere, not here). Other decisions require a little more thought. We’ve come to the point in our lives when we face these kinds of choices more often than we’d like: career choices (to work or not to work…); marriage (yes, no, him?); children (not as obvious as you thought)…you get the point. We’ve also come to the time in our lives when we must choose whether or not to attend the Sunset High School Class of 1987 Ten [Twenty] Year Reunion. Contrary to what you might think, this is a no-brainer. The question is not, “Why should I attend the reunion?” Au contraire. Rather, the question is, “Why the hell not?!!”

Catching up with old friends and acquaintances is only one reason to attend. How about meeting people you have NEVER MET or TOTALLY FORGOTTEN (we did have a class of 600 people, you know) without having to deal with the teenage angst that went along with being 18. Sure, you can talk about old times (attending after school clubs, choir auditions, decorating your locker, cruising the mall, Thompson Road, Led Zeppelin, skipping class, basketball championship, graduation ceremonies, smoking section, old lovers, studying hard, slacking off, lounging with pals, being tardy), but you can also discuss current issues, common goals, and perhaps get a fresh perspective and some sage advice for those difficult life decisions from a classmate who has been there, done that.”
